ABOUT BALAMURUGAN P

            P. Balamurugan is a Kalaripayattu instructor and has trained under Shaji K. John of the Shaji School of Kalaripayattu. Trained in the Northern style for over 7 years, Balamurugan has gone on to start his own training centre called Chennai Kalaripayattu in 2017. He is also training first-year students in Kalakshetra in the art form between 2019 and 2022. He has conducted professional workshops across schools in Chennai and also conducted a 15-day intensive workshop for commandos belonging to the National Security Guard (NSG). In addition to Kalaripayattu, Bala is also a performing folk and theatre artist, well-versed in the arts of therukoothu, oyilattam and devarattam.
